5 Tips for Passing the Silverwater Driving Test
Watch the Flashing Lights:
Silverwater is a transit hub for school buses. If you see a bus with flashing yellow lights, you
must
slow down to 40 km/h, even if you are on the opposite side of the road.
Exaggerate Your Scanning:
At the many multi-lane intersections in Silverwater, make sure the examiner
sees
your head move as you scan left and right, even if the light is green.
Mind the Speed Transitions:
Be alert when turning off main roads into 50 km/h residential or 60 km/h industrial side streets. Exceeding the limit by even 1 km/h is an automatic fail.
Buffer Zones:
Give large trucks plenty of space. In Silverwater, "low-risk" driving means maintaining a 3-second gap behind heavy vehicles.
The Entry/Exit Maneuver:
Practice entering and exiting the Service NSW car park on Silverwater Road. It can be busy, and your "decision making" (choosing a safe gap in traffic) starts the moment you pull out.
